What began as a legal summit for pro-life lawyers, the Law of Life Summit has grown into an annual event with smaller regional conferences nationwide. Royce Hood, the founder of Law of Life, envisioned a pro-life movement uniting national and local leaders with advocates and organizations to energize and strategize to build a culture of life.

2011

Preparation began to organize a pro-life conference that would focus on the law and media.

2012

The inaugural Law of Life Summit was held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., the day before the national March for Life. Attorney Nellie Gray, founder of the March for Life, spoke at the Summit. Additional speakers included attorneys, religious leaders, and media representatives.

2013 – 2015

During these years, the Law of Life Summit was held in several locations, including Naples, Florida, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. Summits were held in conjunction with the West Coast Walk for Life and the 10th anniversary of the death of Terri Schiavo.

2016 – 2019

The Law of Life Summit continues to grow in prominence as an annual forum for pro-life leaders to share their work.

2020

The Law of Life Summit was held in Washington, D.C., but as COVID-19 progressed, the first virtual mini-Summits were launched throughout the year. These events coincided with the unprecedented shutdowns of churches, lockdowns, and other events that increased political unrest.

2021

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, The Law of Life Summit was held virtually for the first time on January 28.

2022

With the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court in the summer of 2022, the Summit held its first-ever two-day event in Schaumburg, IL. The Schaumburg Summit was the first significant gathering of pro-life leaders after the Dobbs decision.

2023

The first Naples Pro-Life Summit leadership retreat was held in Naples, Florida, from March 29 through 30. Naples-based Action for Life served as the 2023 presenting sponsor of the Naples Summit, which combined a conference and retreat for national and local pro-life leaders.

The Naples Summit included a community service project, a special luncheon, airboat excursions, a pizza and pep rally, and networking and team-building exercises with leaders from various pro-life ministries.

In addition, Law of Life will host events in the following locations:

Kansas City – Summer of 2023
Fargo, ND – Fall of 2023
